The hybrid project Memories of Language began as an idea for audiovisual projects with an emphasis on anthropological research and cultural heritage of spoken languages, starting  from the Greek – speaking villages of Calabria in Southern Italy and their remaining inhabitants. Through a cinematic process of search, research and observation, to record and collect the oral language and tradition of the Greco people, the vision of the project “Memories of the Language” was created as a continuation, which is today evolving into a global initiative for preservation and promotion, giving a voice to those who keep the memory alive. Beyond an anthropological project of recording Greek-speaking Calabria, the vision grows.

It becomes a living platform for participation and creation by Man for Man, the place, its roots and continuity.

Oral languages ​​seek their own memories, through the living testimonies of descendants. These narratives, fragile and resistant to the passage of time, remind us that language is not just a sound, but the breath of identity. Memories of Language come to unite every oral history and testimony, every descendant with every expression of voluntary participation, support and collaboration, for a global continuity as a new tomorrow of every memory, historical record and collective intangible cultural heritage, of every language that is not written but spoken. 

• Whether you are a descendant of the Greek-speaking villages of Calabria or of another place whose culture, tradition and spoken language you want to continue to exist, come with us, because your participation is valuable.
• We call on University Institutions, Researchers, Social Scientists to create an International Scientific Group, which will support the “Memories of Language” project, through research, recording, collection and any new collaboration on Intangible Cultural Heritage and Oral Languages.
• We are looking for Cultural Organizations, Companies & Brands that support social and cultural projects that want to create an international footprint.
• An important part of the “Memories of Language” hybrid project is the discovery, recording and promotion of historical and archaeological sites of spoken languages, which strengthen the identity, history and origins of today’s descendants.
• The participation of educational and local communities of Greek-speaking Calabria or other spoken languages, become assistants in the vision and strengthening of the project community.
